A Record High in German Arms Exports

Germany’s arms exports reached a new pinnacle in 2023. The Federal Ministry of Economics in Berlin announced that the country had granted export permissions for armaments totaling an unprecedented 12.2 billion Euros. This figure surpasses the previous high of 9.4 billion Euros recorded in 2021 and marks a notable increase from a brief decline in exports in 2022.

Collectively, these nations accounted for 89 percent of the total export value, with the remaining 11 percent distributed to various other countries.

Norway’s Significant Role

Among the countries receiving German arms, Norway also featured prominently, representing the second-highest value in the export permits issued.
