Bavaria’s logistics and courier sector is facing severe disruptions as the labor union Verdi expands strikes across key parcel delivery companies. These strikes, aimed at securing better wages and conditions, threaten to impact pre-Christmas deliveries significantly. The work stoppages began after a breakdown in the third round of negotiations in Aschheim near Munich, where employers and the union failed to reach an agreement.

Parcel service providers FedEx, DPD, UPS, Hermes, and Schenker are at the center of the industrial action, while Deutsche Post/DHL remains unaffected due to a separate wage agreement. With Verdi intensifying its stance, the strikes are expected to continue until December 23 unless a new offer is presented.

For last-minute shoppers, express delivery services remain an option, with some providers accepting parcels as late as December 23 for next-day delivery.
